The WA Government is considering merging Curtin, Murdoch and UWA into a single mega-university.
That will mean fewer choices, reduced access, and a weaker state.
A risk for students.
A risk for education.
A risk for WA.

Merging WA universities will cut choice, cost jobs, reduce teaching quality, limit access to education, damage research capability, and weaken the state
The WA Government is considering merging Curtin, Murdoch and UWA into a single university.
Planning is already underway and a decision is approaching. If implemented, this will fundamentally reshape higher education across WA, changing what students can study, where they can study, and how they are supported.
Changes on this scale come with serious consequences. WA’s universities serve different communities and deliver distinct strengths. Combining them will reduce choice, create new barriers for students from diverse backgrounds, and cause significant disruption throughout the system. Students and families deserve clarity about what will be lost and who will bear the cost of these changes.
